What are Novathreads?
They are hypodermic needles preloaded with a PDO Absorbable Suture.
What is a PDO Absorbable Sutre?
It’s a synthetic absorbable surgical suture composed of polydioxanone. PDO sutures are used to perform cardiothoracic surgery (such as open-heart surgery). It’s one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body. Your skin fully absorbs it within 4 to 6 months & won’t leave you with any scar tissue.
How does it work?
It’s amazingly simple, actually! In medical terms “Selective Inflammatory Response,” it is the principle behind a lot of the aesthetic procedures (such as Fractional Laser, Chemical Peels, and Microneedling). Our skin is very good at repairing itself, and by inserting Novathreads we make it ‘heal’ itself by creating new collagen, naturally!
Your skin gently reacts to the inserted threads
Yes, PDO is fully absorbable, but that doesn’t mean your skin won’t react to it. During the 4 to 6 months needed to fully absorb the PDO suture, your skin is also repairing itself around it. It’s “controlled healing” happening underneath the skin!
No cuts or incisions – purely injections!
The NovaThreads are needles that are pre-loaded with a PDO thread. Simply insert the whole needle in the interstitial tissue at the subdermal level, parallel to the surface of the skin, & pull the needle out.
Botox / Xeomin / Dysport (Nueromodulators)
Neuromodulators are a purified protein that blocks receptors at nerve endings, preventing the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, thereby preventing muscle contraction. Neuromodulators are used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles of the face into which it is injected and to prevent future wrinkles.
It takes from 4-7 days to see optimum results for Neuromodulators. You may require additional units at a subsequent follow-up visit within two weeks to complete the injection series to obtain the goals we have discussed. 10-20 units per area are only an average and are by no means the standard. Males usually require more than females. People with stronger muscles may require more. Neuromodulators will not fill any wrinkles/lines; they relax and smooth the moving lines, not stationary wrinkles. The results from a Neuromodulators can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months or more. The duration will vary from patient to patient.
Dermal Fillers

Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse, Belotero, Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Perlane
Most fillers are hyaluronic acid that has a light, gel-like consistency which acts like a sponge to absorb water. It is already found in our connective tissue and when injected into the dermis, it fills in lines and restores volume in lips, cheeks, and under the eyes. Each filler has unique characteristics that make it appropriate for volumizing different areas of the face. Thicker fillers such as Juvederm Voluma are great for cheek augmentation and last up to 2 years while Belotero and Restylane Silk are thinner and finer fillers which can be used for lines around the lips or hollows under the eyes. Radiesse is the only filler that is a calcium-based product. Fillers come in a 1 cc syringe and generally speaking unless you are only doing your lips, you may require more than one syringe. Radiesse the only filler that is used with a 1.5 cc syringe, is great for cheeks and smile lines. Radiesse has been shown to promote collagen production as the calcium product is degraded by the body where it was injected. Fillers generally last up to one year but will degrade sooner in places that have more movement such as lips.
